Hello Samba Fam,

I just picked up this sweet bus and have begun the process of bringing it back to life. First question for everyone: Where should I get a new fuel tank from? Jbugs? The original tank had some sediment in it so I need a new one and probably a sending unit too.

The original engine had a hole in the back of the case so I picked up an "AM" Thing engine for free from a friend.

I've used Wolfsburg West and a Brazilian tank from an unknown source. The WW tank fit well, the other tank required a support strap for the neck be cut off and a corner ground for clearance. I like VDO senders, I have a pile of other junk senders I've pulled out. Many of them worked for a few months until the floats sunk. My Ghia and both busses use the same sender so I've gone through a lot.

You could also look into putting the larger Bay window Bus gas tank in it to give yourself a larger range. I think there has got to be more of those available too.
But if you want an original tank, have that one cleaned, repaired and lined. It might cost a bit more than a used one, but at least you know what you've got.

Gordo.
