Hello,
My question is probably asked before but so far I couldn't find it.
I have a '71 early bay tintop, non westy. Since i do a lot of travels in it I want a comfortable camper, which to me is the Westfalia Berlin interior.
I was wondering if anyone every measured every part of this interior and would share it so I can rebuild it to the original specs?
Thanks!

Hello, I too think the Berlin interior is nice.
Not sure if your thinking of reproducing a set or just needing the dimensions to make a custom something or other.
Either way, for me, I think these pieces are quite complicated and I would prefer to have a set on hand for repeated measuring references. Headbanger to wardrobe to refrigerator/icebox to bench and finally kitchen block all talk to each other as I'm sure you know.
After removing and relaminating a set stock and reinstalling, I would think it way past my skill set to create the set from scratch. Grafting two wardrobes to one usable piece pressed the limits of my skills. But we see people make wonderful cabinetry pieces and truthfully, that blows me away.
Ive seen some old water damaged and moldy cabinets around my travels. Maybe one could source some scraps and have those to measure from?
I know its no real help, just felt like responding to you thread as I'm sure people are reading and don't have the measurements on hand. Good luck friend. _________________ 1977 Sage Green Westy

Everyone who builds walls is busy in the US right now, so all the BERLIN designers are too...come back in 2020, they will be free then _________________ .ssS! |

@ Wildidea Thanks for your comment. Yes i just want to use the measurements to build something myself, simular to the Berlin version but different materials and updates.
@ Abscate I'm sure... Luckily i'm in Belgium |

If there is any measurements you could use from an installed interior, I would be happy to measure whatever I could reach for you. I have several pics in my gallery that might help us communicate and be decent to work from.
Maybe this would give you something rough to go by. It's the covered up cabinet to body side pieces that would be the toughest to work blind as they contour to the curve of the body panels.

At the request if Pietjah for some Belin interior measurements and a few PMs about what he's looking for I finally got time to pull a tape across the cabinets where can reach.
We decided to post them public in case someone else feels like adding any of the measurements I cant reach win my pieces installed.
lets start off with the Kitchen Block
lots going on here and points to consider measuring off so I just kind of came up with some of the more common elements and highlight some of the weirdness, mainly the angled mounting point behind the driver side bulkhead.
As best I can measure with the black moulding in place I get two distinctly different measurements.
From there, I find something along the bottom (marked in red) to go by and come up with 34 ½ inches.
Tall is another matter not knowing what Peter is planning here so I just get a group shot along the side. I get out a metal yard stick to help crunch down the carpet for a more accurate reading.
Deep is a whole other set of points as the back side contours to the body of the bus. I get a few points, one from th sink lid notch and one from the far back where the piece touches the back paneling.
Thats something for this, I'm sure is something I missed. I could probably get the lower depth through the tire cubby still. _________________ 1977 Sage Green Westy

Next I went after the Refrigerator
Length
Depth
looks like 13.5 and the lid hangs over a little bit.
Height, no pic, from carpet to top of the lid is 21 inches
I know its cut out for the wheel well but I do get a shot of the storage area and the small area that has screw hardware that bolts it to the wardrobe. A little more than an inch, hard to tell with the steel edge moulding.

Wardrobe
I got what I could here. Its the curvature along the rear air intake that's the most complicated and something I didn't reach yet through the cubby holes. I wanted to get a bulk of the measurements posted as I could and work from there.
front lower width
top width
overall lower length, same as top
Around back
doesn't show up well but there is a bow in the body side.
Height
rear lower width
Rear upper with at lower hinge notch
Hinge notch cut away measurements
down from top
lower notch from body side to right 4.5
of note, I have my long wall panel butted up to my wardrobe and that hides a tiny bit to measure from, I'm guessing a ¼. When installing, I had to decide if it was going behind the wardrobe or not and I decided it pushed my wardrobe too far off track its original mounting holes and went with this combination.

Headbanger
from rear width
Rear height
Overall depth
Notice that the driver side fits flush to wardrobe but the passenger side has a false front.
Back inside the bus, from front, overall width
front height

Lastly, The Rear Bench
This thing has a lot going on too. I'll add whatever I think you need for the bed to hinge into a seat.
Length across the top front
Length across the front bottom, curves ever so slightly on pass side body line. looks like a half inch or so, I can't read my thumbnails while typing.
Face height
Pass hinge mount support. top depth
height
Support inset distance from top of front face
Bottom depth by wheel well
pass wheel well cut out
Drivers side inset from refrigerator. I realize I would prob want a mount to mount measurement and can provide.
Bench board width measurements are
lower seat depth is
upper backrest height
I hope this helps get you started. If this is the kind of measuring you wanted then its totally worth it to me to have done it. Don't hesitate to ask for further measurements. I was going to build a 3D sketch with the measurements but I'll go ahead and let you do that part yourself. _________________ 1977 Sage Green Westy

Would some kind soul with a Berlin model please make this measurement for me?
The original owner of my Bus took artistic license and turned my spare tire closet into a sliding "spice rack." To do this, he cut off the wooden lip on the bottom of the spare tire cover/door, which fits into the groove of the metal plate on the floor. Thank you in advance!

Another measurement I need is that of the closet mirror for a Berlin model. I could get a close approximation from the holes in my closet door, but would rather have exact measurements. I will greatly appreciate help with this.
