|

Hello! This is my attempt at a full homemade camper interior for my '71 bus. I am planning on ordering the hardware for a Rock n Roll bed from Bus Depot, but I wanted to ask first if anyone has built a rock n roll bed for a tall person (I am 6'2"). Any links or information would be greatly appreciated! _________________ '71 Elm Green Deluxe Transporter

There are many of us at 6'2 using the standard bed length. You only have a certain length from rear hatch forward. Perhaps a fold or slide out piece added to the seat? _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

Yes you can make the seat part longer but of course your seat will be deeper which may not suite children travelling if you have any. I'm only 6ft and I find the standard length too short so I made mine longer like this. You could make the back a little higher by positioning the seat base further forward by the same amount, but then although bed position would work with no gaps the cushions won't meet correctly in seat position. |

You need a stretch version of the bus first.

Better option might be to go with a rear hatch tent (wouldn't be good for cold weather though). |
Also not so good for bear/cougar country. |

Depends on if you are the bear/cougar, or not... _________________ 1979 Transporter (sold)

A couple of extra Westfalia stools would also work, but if you are so tall you hang off the bed how do you fit in the drivers seat? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

many make a cushion for the portable beverage cooler to make it same height and then slide it over as an extension. _________________

Man I love all the responses and advice! I was planning on crafting a buddy seat to put behind the passenger seat, so I could make that into an extension. This might be the best option in terms of space as well. Much gratitude everyone! _________________ '71 Elm Green Deluxe Transporter

Keep in mind that an extension in front of the bed will/may prevent you from opening the closest cabinet door. Advantage cooler or something portable? I'm a side sleeper, so my 6'2" frame shrinks to fit _________________ 1977 Westfalia 2.0 FI Skills EJ25 w SubaruGears 5sp

I just let my feet hang off, but I'm 6'6" and my feet hang off every bed.
I have considered making a removable extension from headrest hardware scavenged from a bucket seat.
But thinking about it is all I've done. _________________ 70 Sunroof Kombi
