This is such a motivating build. I read it again just to remind myself of what is possible!

Me too! Lol thanks!

Although not as vintage but I'm working on another project vehicle, 1985 Toyota 4runner. We're going to see if it can handle a year of driving like my project 66 did.

Will you be bringing it to Florida in March to mingle with all the other Herbies?

That would be so cool! But I won't be able to go. I've been to the Hotel down there that they are going to meet. We took pictures with the Herbie they have on the property. I pretended to be working on it!

Showing Herbie some love today!

Back when I did the floor pans I had to make the rear floor pan support bracket. Some so called professional cut it off when they attempted to do this job. but even my fix broke free last year. Now it's back on. One more spot weld from directly under and we should be good to go.

If I recall correctly they were 15 by 5 with 195 60 tires like the size on it currently. The backs were so offset it had them coil overs to keep them from hitting the fenders. If the back wheels were the same as the fronts I would of left them on.

I didn't imagine we would be out cruising in Herbie during January but here we are and managed to see another aircoooled vw out there today.

Yeah cool car for sure. We rarely see others on the road around here, let alone in January!

Taking advantage of the weather today, again this week. I think I have gotten the chance to drive Herbie every month this winter!

Our season is about to open and I am really looking forward to it. With the forced perspective, Herbie looks like a toy sitting on the table. Enjoy the ride.

Cruising season is almost here for sure! Herbie does look a lot like a toy that way. Too cool how that worked out.

Wow! Great job with your Herbie and then driving it so much and enjoying it! I'm originally from CT and grew up there so it's cool to see all pics of CT and relive some memories seeing your pictures. I moved to FL in 1994. I do not miss the cold or the weather there! I got my 68 bug in 1992 and restored it in CT before I moved to FL. I still have my bug and drive it here lots! Best of luck with your car!

Thanks for the kind words! It definitely was a labor of love 😉 I hate to admit we've been kinda holding back on driving a lot this year with Herbie. I think tomorrow I'll put some miles on.

And here are some shots from today. Cruising at sunset with Van Halen , Panama playing on the radio. Doesn't get much better than that!

Nothing like taking Herbie out after working on the 4runner ( it needed almost as much welding as Herbie) the fall colors are starting around here and we haven't taken Herbie out apple picking in a long time.
