No need for custom, simply buy one. I found the same one from several suppliers such as apple tree automotive.

Functionally, any 1 3/8" four into one collector header from EMPI or Appletree would work fine.
However I'm pretty sure from the photos he posted, Caleb is interested in a header with the same vintage appearance as the ones in the photos he selected.
That style of system with the rear cylinder exhaust tubes which cross each other like a pretzel rather than run parallel, was likely last produced in the early 70s.

Yes! I am looking at making one with the original pretzel style as opposed to the parallel you can find now. I am thinking about buying the current parallel style and having it modified to look as close to the ones above as possible.

I think that's very possible. Look at Geoff's Manx restorattion thread and see how he took a new Manx sidewinder and modified it to look more like the older ones

Buy tubing bends from Summit or Speedway & flanges from any VW parts supplier & Fab your header instead of buying a header to cut apart.
