Hello!
This is going to be my build thread for my beetle that I have named Bonnie.
First Ill start with the background.
So I had been looking for a running decently priced beetle close to where I live since before I got my license(2015) I finally found one in the summer of 2017 on craigslist and It was In my town. I called the owner but he wouldn't pic up so I just drove over to look at It myself. She had some rust on the frame nothing bad yet luckily. I got in contact with the owner the next day and finally got to look in her. From first glance it was extremely modified. Every gauge imaginable on the dash from gas/air ratio to head temps. The engine was rebuilt and had what I would call allot of ambitious parts/mods. The owner didn't speak amazing english but from my understanding he had the heads shaved, cylinders honed, oil cooler from a bus, aftermarket oil pickup and filter, and other parts related to fuel and spark. It ran well long enough for me to test drive and get it home. The second It was home it stopped. I got it running for a few days after this but then it stopped again. Ive changed out the distributor from a CB performance MagnaSpark to a regular distributor, I also changed the electronic fuel pump. Now she runs and always starts but struggles a little. I think I went from too much fuel to maybe not enough.
Why I named her Bonnie?
Ok so she didn't come with a name and even If I wanted to find any owners before the last one It probably wouldn't be In a computer data base because he has owned the car since 2005ish. But one night Police told me I had to leave a town I was in and I told the officers I was In a 72 beetle that didnt like to start at the time but she started right up with police watching so my theory is she dose not like Police hence the name Bonnie the best known female outlaw.

Nice looking Super! Bonnie's a '71 based on the steering wheel and the wiper switch in the dash. Has a '72-only oil-bath air filter though. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

And she has a oil cooler from a bus. The title says 72 and I want to say that the owners before have just swapped steering wheels and dash stuff but I honestly have no idea. Its frankenstein's monster for sure. _________________ -----------------------------------------
