I have the ASI converta-van interior. Non Poptop. Its sort of like a weekender. I have the only one in the world. Its production serial number 2. So there was atleast 1 other built and its the one in the add. Ive been asking for years now if anyones seen another or has one. Nothing yet. So im claiming the only one left 😎

This is my currant set up, I found an early 80's Westy Kitchen unit, painted it and removed the fridge. I added shelving, a 1lb propane hookup and lighting inside. Also Added Early 80's Westy curtains and cheap flooring.
This with a deep cycle battery under the bench with a inverter for our power needs.
The Plan is to redo the floor with something more durable. I would also like to replace the panel on the drivers side wall behind the kitchen with something I can add gauges and switches to.
I also have a propane heater I'm looking to install, just haven't gotten that far just yet.

I was wondering that myself...Bus Depot carries some of the Reimo table stuff which looks similar:

Those are really nice. I feel like I'd have to build a better Vanagon around it. _________________ Joe T.

This company will cut the table to any size you require.
I took the side panel off and riveted a 50mm steel strip between the B & C pillars, added some riv nuts to it and fixed the round mounting bar back through side panel. The leg has a cam so it locks into position, no need to drill your floor.
Oh, I riveted some drink holders onto the ash tray as no one smokes anymore. |

thank you. i was looking at a photo of the area without a panel and wasn't sure how much reinforcement would be needed and of what type to keep it from moving when something heavy ends up on the table. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL Camper

This guy has obviously taken things to a new level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LS3BBdvnw8 He has used some clever packaging in addition to the remarkable engineering and given me some thoughts.
The sliding seating area/dinette part has me thinking about what I could do in my tintop with a "daytime" arrangement and a "nighttime" arrangement. I like the VW factory bed, but frankly if I re-engineered the bed and didn't care if it folded to a bench seat, I could seriously redo things. Yes, the Original Full Width Bed still works fine, the kitchen unit is mounted as far back as possible to still allow the bed to fold out.
Also Inside I have 1 20L jug to act as a grey water tank that is hooked up to the sink and easily removable.
for fresh water I have a small pump hooked up to a long tube allowing me to use any fresh water tank. That usually gets stashed between the seats or the front floor area when parked. _________________ 68 Beetle - 1776

Indeed the bed folds out nicely. I used a hybrid of an aircooled weekender and full westy setup. Full width weekender bed with closet and low cabinet with full sink\stove\fridge cab. The weekender water tank is under the seat\bed. Can seat 6 people.
