This is probably covered somewhere already but...

I am looking at a 73 Ghia this weekend and was wondering if the body and pan are really rusted (this is in Minnesota), if it has a manual, not a autostick, is most everything Type 1 parts? I am thinking engine, transmission, front beam (ball joint? or otherwise) etc., etc.

Maybe it would be clearer to ask if the car turns out to be only good as a parts car, would it be a good start for building a Manx buggy?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

The Ghia chassis is mostly identical to the type 1 beetle. The width of the floor is wider on the Ghia but the major mechanical parts are the same. There are some year to year variations brought about by some developments not arriving in the same model year.

The entire chassis & driveline is the same except for the pan halves, it becomes a Beetle pan by just using Beetle pan halves.
