Looking to replace the contact paper on my beige panels.
Found many threads on the laminate replacement for cabinets but nothing on the contact paper.
where should I be looking? _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

GoWesty used to sell a replacement - not contact paper but vinyl(?) that you use cement to affix (I used spray contact cement). Was sort of okay - not the exact pattern and not the exact color. |

It seems someone, somewhere, perhaps on a distant planet, posted about replacement OEM wallpaper. Not that this helps!
Our slider and hatch panels could use a refresh.
If I can't find the exact paper, I'm buying panels from Bus Depot or Masonite from wherever, and roll-coating them to match... or, prettier yet, to match the cabinet tan on our 1884 Westy. _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears

The vinyl looks real nice...on a moving car or city bus.
If you have to sit next to it it's not that great.
The reason for me is that the surface has to be better then perfect.
The vinyl wrap is so thin that any imperfection on the surface beneath it will show through.
You can get vinyl in a textured surface and that helps hide the surface problems.
I was on one project where the owner wanted to do his interior walls with vinyl and the first guys who did it it looked like crap. The next group that tried "were the best at it" as was the 3rd, 4th and 5th companies.
It's just never fulfilled the expectations on something you have to look at not moving. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Almost all of my paper has peeled away. I also recall someone going with the OEM stuff, with some crazy quality adhesive.
In the end, I think the user said he wished he went another route.
I'm in this situation too - thought I could get creative with it.
I would love to have this headliner fabric all over my van where the contact paper was

Like others said the thin vinyl you can get from gowesty (uses spray glue) and any little blob of old glue will show through your hard work.
I opt to use a padded vinyl, its somewhat stretchy and you can get it in cream, grey, tans and they all blend well with a westy...you do need to use correct glue for foam.
can be bought without padding too. |

This is a good page for options of panels with or without vinyl covering:
