I am in the process of converting my 74 Thing to all electric and I am seeking advice from the community in regards to the following:
Suspension. I need to beef-up the suspension to accommodate the extra weight of the batteries. Coil over shocks? Air bag suspension? Sway bar enhancements?
Power steering. The extra weight might require electric owner steering. Suggestions as to available kits or adaptions?
Power brakes. Same issues. Electric driven vacuum solutions or other types of conversions? Also, need to settle on best disk brake conversion.
Air conditioning. Lots of info on the forums regarding air conditioning but not much info regarding all-electric. Need to drive the compressor with a separate electric motor? Or, alternative solutions such as solid state?
I have researched the drivetrain and battery options but would also greatly value any input from members who have been there and done that.
Many thanks,
Herb Donica

There is an electric conversion shop down in San Diego that has been doing some conversions. EV West. You should probably talk to them. |
