Cecil passed away a year ago, and I went to see Peggy, his widow on Friday.
She want to sell his Thing and parts.
To those of you whio did not know Cecil, his Thing was a magic of Engineering and Art.
It was most noticeable for its Disney paint job, but it has a 914 engine, a wonderful instrument cluster, and it is a great driver.
He also had a mass of parts, including, I believe a 914 engine case, and lots of door pocket panels and the mold to make them.
I think the best thing is for me to trailer it to Things West at Prado in June, and there there should be 75-100 Thing enthusiasts, who will appreciate it.
I also can put all the parts on a tarp.
His son want the trailer, but I can probably get that there too. _________________ 63 singlecab

The Thng4ma definitely needs a home with someone who will drive it for fun. It was our date night drive car and seeing it just sitting in my garage makes me sad. If you are interested please let Sam or me know. I can be reached at [email protected]. I’m having Sam and Jeff help me as I am a novice at understanding all that Cecil has done to the Thing. Cecil is surely missed... I had the pleasure of breaking bread with him, at an In N Out, on one of my work trips out there.. What a guy, and an honored Veteran!
I have his sun visors, and door pocket caps in Our Thing. Excellent work.
I was just thinking about this Thing yesterday, and wondering how Miss Peggy was handling everything.
Ma’am, I hope you are doing the best you can Everyday! Don’t let anyone tell you it’s been long enough, or anything of the sort. You are in my prayers, as is your family. _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....
