so the manx can be built on a tubular frame / homemade frame.

Does the pan connect to this?

If so,

Is this street legal?

The benefits to doing away with the original pan/frame seem they would be tremendous.

The legality depends on where you live. I suggest you contact your local DMV before you spend money building something that can't be registered in your state.

Isn't this guy just trolling this site? Or is it some sort of behavioral disorder?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here we go again.
Gregg, can you weld? Do you have the skills to build, or acces to borrow the jigs and tools required? I mean the hydrolic bender for the tubes is 1/2 your budget. The tubing will take up the other 1/2. Do you have a garage to fabricate in?

If you want a Baja or now Manx buy one Learn about the neuances and the daily driving reliability...then sell it after you realize what everyone on here has been telling was actually true.

Greg, answer us this;

Do you consider yourself mechanically inclined?
Do you like tinkering with projects?
Do you like repairing and wrenching on automobiles?
Do you like fabricating, welding, working with metal?
Do you like designing and coming up with solutions to fix problems?

If you like doing all of the above, this may be a good hobby for you.

If not, you may want to reconsider. I would hate for you to dump a ton of money into a Baja/buggy, and come to find that you don’t enjoy the work you need to put into these kind of vehicles in order to own them. It isn’t that they are unreliable, they just take a different level of care than a modern vehicle.

Found a reality check for you. It’s everything on your list and I garentee it’s selling for less than what they have in it.

Gregg has been poking around here for over a year and has yet bought a VW d'oh! Brick wall
I think he is just lonely and broke and uses the Samba to get the needed attention when members reply to his postings.
Gregg, how about you get a car, then ask the questions when you have something real to work on Rolling Eyes
