Hi Henrik... from a fellow Dane
You are confusing us poor folks living in the US. "Tailgate" typically refers to the back of a pickup truck. Do you have a picture of the type of cover you are referring to? _________________ -Kent-

I suspect we are discussing a headbanger cabinet, or simple hinge cover box like the 74/75 Westfalia has. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I'm wondering if we're discussing the pre-70 Westy headbangers…

As luck (or lack of luck) would have it, I have constructed three of these (headbangers) in the last year. If you want, I can trace the outline of the parts and either email you a scan, or mail you a paper template.
One caveat though - is that each headliner is a bit different, so the curved top edge has to be scribed and trimmed to fit. I have all wood ceilings so there is less 'give' to the fitment.
You will also have to figure out how to hold it up. Mine sits partially on cabinets on the sides.
Easiest - just buy one.
Lastly, if you only want to cover the hinges, you can source the plastic covers in the classifieds. _________________ '75 Riviera - 'BIG EMMA' (Pan American highway trip paused for a make over)

Thx guys,
Sorry about the confusion with the word tailgate.
Though its used by al least the uk guys.
Anyhow; the "Heradbanger" is exactly what Im looking for.
And yes - I've already wondered how to hold it up, as Im not fitting any cabinets along the sides. |
