You have to consider the full range of possible angle differences, not just up and down. It is possible that one or both ends is pointing off to the side, not just off up or down. A laser pointer is the way to detect this.

Hi All, I'm trying to reduce my driveshaft angles. Right now my rear (transmission) shaft is about 4.25 degrees down and my front shaft is about 3.75 degrees down. From everything I've read, my driveshaft will be much happier with lower and equal angles.
Any ideas for how to decrease the rear angle? I could put a big (0.5" - 0.75"?) spacer on the mustache bar to lower the rear of the engine but that seems like a lot... Maybe the much better option would be to raise the front end of the transmission slightly (should only require about 0.25")? I don't see an obvious way to do this. Can one trim the metal bushings inside the transmission mounts? Other ideas?
Thanks!
-Bill

I did exactly that. I trimmed the metal bushing and spacers down to reduce the angle. It worked great. You can also add spacers to the front of the front diff to change the angle.
Whatever works.

Thanks Ron! So, do the steel inserts come out of the rubber mounts, or are they permanently stuck in there? Mine certainly don't seem to want to move...
Edit: The steel inserts pop right out by wedging a small screwdriver in-between the insert and the rubber and adding some lube.
Thanks,
-Bill
