So I am finally starting to install my Hand Laid Mark V Broad Eye kit. The hood piece comes made with pre-tapped holes so that it can be installed with the OEM hinges. Problem I am running into is what bolts to use. The OEM bolts are M8-1.25 and don't seem to seat properly. I tried M8-1.00 and M7-1.00 and they both seem to try to cross thread. I was hoping one of you all had been through the same process and shed some light on the proper bolt size? |

I would say call the manufacturer?
There was a build on here last year of a VERY nice red bug that used the Mark V stuff.
Cant remember the name of the thread though? |

Try a 5/16-18 and see if that fits

Manufacturer is only open weekdays so I was trying to get it figured out before then but that might be what I have to end up doing. That's how these projects always seem to go right, hurry up and wait.
I'll try a 5/16 also, just incase they switched to standard.
Thanks! |

That is such a beautiful build. Hopefully down the road i will be able to get far into a build as this but I just don't have the space or resource to do a full body off build.
I was able to get a hold of Mark V Fiberglass today and he did say they use a 5/16 thread so when I am back on my weekend I will be able to pick a few up and move forward. Haven't decided if I'll post pictures here of start an actual build thread.
Thank you guys for your responses! |

They are 5/16-18. Got the hood installed. The bolts I picked up were 3/4 long, which is slightly longer than OEM, so I put an extra washer on it so it wouldn't go through the other end of the fiberglass. Now to cut the front to fit the nose piece. Have a feeling that part will take a little longer. |

I'm sure glad you posted this. I plan to install the same kit later this year. One less thing now for me to figure out.
Please post photos of your progress. |
