Slowly going though the systems. Got the window fixed today. Oil and antifreeze changed. Noticed the cockpit fan works on all positions except 4. Confused, the high position should bypass the resistor block and always work. any idea where to look? Brake fluid change and pad check tomorrow, sure I'll have more issues.

Wire break between switch and blower. The fan does bypass the resistor block and fuse in position 4 so that should be an easy find.

It's the red/black off the switch and it's also thicker than the first three, 2.5mm gauge

On my '93 that blower position has its own 20A or 25A fuse above the fuse box.

I have the same problem. blower doesn't work on 4. What was your solution?

Thank you.

Looking at pictures of the resistor pack, it looks like there is a fuse that runs position 4. Haven't tried to remove it yet, looks like a pita.

Don’t mess with the resistor pack if 1-3 are working. You need a really stubby philips if you do. The fuse for speed 4 should be at the fuse/relay panel somewhere. Don’t have my wiring diagram in front of me.

I take that back. On my diagram for a 93, power goes to the switch on black yellow. 12v on 1-3 run from the switch through the resistor pack and come out on a red wire to the fan. Speed 4 is on a black wire directly from the switch to the fan. No separate fuse for just speed 4.

I think it is the red object on the right side of the picture. I've tried to follow the bentley wiring. But all wires lead to the resistor and out of the resistor. I think it is the culprit. Hopefully will get to it this week. Summer is getting hot!

Well I was wrong. The resistor pack only controls the speeds 1-3. I confirmed I was getting power out of the high speed postion of the switch. Ran a new wire from the switch to the blower. Have all 4 speeds back now.

I’m so glad you figured it out Very Happy

I don’t have a Bentley manual. Is there any way you could share the wiring diagram with me so that I can tackle this issue too???

Wiring diagram is too small to try to copy. The blower is fed from a 30 amp fuse. Black/red wire feeds the switch. Red wire out of switch is the high position. Yellow, yellow/black, and white wires go the the resistor pack. Red wire out of resistor joins the red wire for high position up near the motor. Brown wire out of motor is ground.

This diagram works for 92-95. Not sure if it applies to a T4. Before you start cutting wires. Find the red wire junction and remove the tape. Take a jumper and connect one end to the junction and the other stuff in the red wire terminal on the back of the switch. Turn the key on and see if the fan works in all 4 postitions. Hopefully yes, then you can start cutting and reconnecting.
