I hope its ok to post questions in this topic?
I have just scrolled through this thread but I see a lot of variations.
The thing is I am about to install a German Wool headliner in my 6:th of january 1957 Karmann Ghia but how are the headliner supposed to be protruding down on the A-pillars and the C-pillars?? Some pics shows cloth all the way down to the dash on the A-pillar and some does not have this at all.
How is it supposed to end on the C-pillar against the parcel tray? _________________ ----------(VW)----------

At the front the headliner stops near top of A pillar.
At the rear it finishes level with the rear shelf, the vinyl shelf and trim piece covers most of the edge.
The ends are folded under themselves.

Great pics. It looks threaded at the upper rear section. Is that original? |
On early cars i'm sure that the pillar piece was stitched on to the main headlining, but I admit the thread does look a little weird. |

you can have the German square weave carpet dyed to match the colour you need, (but have the carpet dyed in 6 ft lengths by the width ) then cut it into pieces for the car.

I’m trying to get the car as close to stock or correct for the year as possible
So questions are:
Original tombstone seats??
Is the new seat covering correct to the colour/year of car???
Door cards are all one colour/color 😃is that correct???
What should be in the hole in the dash?? |

I can make these; either the complete door panels, or the vinyl cover skins with the welded plastic chrome strips.

Hi guys,
I have a 1957 Ghia with original interior and thin back seats. Back in the 70's, the interior was covered with ugly orange and black seat covers on the original seat covers.
The result, many holes on the original seat covers and I can see those 2 screws on the back (bottom) of each front seats (here, the back of the front driver seat).
Is it original or is it something done lately in the 70's ?
Seems legit to me for several reason :
- Those screws have the same style used on early Ghia,
- They are at the exact same position on each side,
- The frames have holes on each side to receive those screws that hold the bottom of the seat covers.
This is just to be sure and give the good information to Kev (Mr Aussie Trimer).

I'd be pretty surprised if the Aussie Trimmer didn't already know everything there is to know about what a "correct" Karmann Ghia thin back seat is supposed to look like. |
