Even if she was fat and ugly I'm glad Bundy didn't get her... |

I must say that I never really paid much attention to Ted Bundy. I just knew he killed numerous young women, so seeing this thread I educated myself on him. Seems like he came from a good family and was an educated and well spoken man. In his interviews he claims that pornography was a major contributor for making him do these heinous things. That being said, I'm on the fence when it comes to his car being displayed. I know if it would have been my daughter that he killed I wouldn't want the car showcased like that. |

I'd rather see the car than his creepy ass art. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

mrs.slave1pilot is a huge serial killer buff.
She knowsthem by sight, by stories, by history . She not only knows what they did, but what led to them being how they are.
It's kinda like us and our fascination with VWs ,everyone has their hobbies I guess.
Btw- they recently filmed a new Ted Bundy movie with Zac Efron.
And they got the bug wrong.

You got it right. The common thread with all of these posts is that there clearly isn’t one user that had a close family member or friend murdered by this creep. It’s kind of sad that excellent members of society like Bundy are glorified. |

I think he meant "excrement", not "excellent". Damn auto correct! _________________ 21 million of these cars were built, and everyone of them were sold...kinda astounding given how unreliable they are.---johhnypan |

You are right. Zero familiarity.
To the point of the original post, I seem to see a lot of this today. The seemingly glorification, fascination and almost admiration of history’s bad folks. People can obviously read about history but unless you are personally touched by it, then we can’t begin to start to empathize with the true horrors that the victims and their friends and family have had to and continue to endure.
Deep stuff, but a very good and thought provoking article share by the original poster. |

As long as someone can make money on it, it will continue.

Thanks to the Sundance Film Festival, we’ve gotten our official look at Zac Efron as Ted Bundy in the upcoming biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Vile. The festival posted the photo, hyping up the film before it premieres there in early 2019, where it was first noticed by Collider. |

I do know that during some of the murders he had a girlfriend who also drove a Beetle. Maybe it was hers? _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road.

This link says 1968 VW http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic...artsliving
But that sure looks like a 1970 VW in the above photo: two engine lid slots, 1970-only bumper-mounted reflectors. But I don't see side reflector on the left taillight housing, and I can't tell the width of the headrests in the photo either. Maybe he or someone added the updated engine lid and the reflectors? Here are the two photos from that link, 2nd especially shows pre-1970 as 1970 had black dash grille and glove box door
Anyway, on ABC 20/20 last night with Bundy overview, they used a 1972 Super Beetle for this. It was in nice condition as these VWs would've been in the 1970s, and only we VW weirdos would know or care that the VW was not "perfectly accurate". Maybe the same VW that was used in the upcoming NetFlix Ted Bundy movie.
Lots of VWs in the old news footage on that 20/20, especially the footage from the Washington lake where he abducted two gals the same day, and his ruse was having his arm in a sling, and was overheard introducing himself as "Ted", and where the first police sketch was drawn from. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Second owner of each. 1988 Mazda B2200 truck, 1998 Frontier, 2014 Yukon, 2004 Frontier King Cab. All manual transmission except for the Yukon. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335294 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=335297 |

There are a lot of weird cats out there. Just too bad that one of the most celebrated murderers of all time happened to be a VW-lover too.
Hitler was a VW-lover too.
If you look at all the VW-lovers out there, we are some twirky bunch, are we not?
Ted Bundy actually helped law enforcement catch the Green River Killer...so there. Bundy was good in that end. All the way to the point they fried his ass on the chair.
I wanted to add, all future serial killers will all be caught shortly w/ this new DNA -ancestry database. All they gotta do is punch yours in the database and your long lost relatives will narrow it down for law enforcement to come talk to your own mother. |
