My 412 started having issues recently. When I start the engine it is fine after it warms up it cannot idle above 800 RPM and then sputters and dies. Adjusting the idle screw has no effect and I verified that the timing and dwell are correct. Before I go down the wrong rabbit hole I would like some suggestions and where to start looking for the problem. _________________ 1982 Westy, 1974 412 Variant... Yes, Aircooled's are great! This is a 74 that still has L-jet right?
Do the first things first. It could be a huge range of things.
Check that the AAR is closing. Then check the resistance hot and cold of the cylinder head temp sensor (ts-2). Then check timing and make sufe your advance is working. Then check every sijngle hose....most especially the boot between air cleaner and TB.
Then check fuel pressure at idle and with throttle open.
Check voltage at coil + side when running.
Make sure the plug is plugged in in the AFM.
Get back to us after this. Ray |

Also check for vacuum leaks, especially at the runners and injectors. |

Well it looks like my issue was the distributor cap and rotor. It started out being an issue when warm but soon changed to all the time. _________________ 1982 Westy, 1974 412 Variant...
