Thank you blink.
It’s not a fast build but I’m trying to get forward bit by bit every week.
Today after work I had some time over so I did these reinforcement things.
Don’t know the correct name for them.

Doesn’t have to be fast just has to have photos lol
But really all the little bits all add up you will get there
They look really nice, are they for the parts near the pedals? |

Yes exactly. KlassicFab call them supporting plate. So I guess that’s the name. |

Starten to fresh’en up the mid plate between the frame.
This is from a newer center steering.
I’m planing on having the center steering so this should be a 55+ model, right?
How have you guys done it on your Bds driving steering in center?
Do you just cut the Bd plate so the steering clears, or should this be a good way to go?

I have been welding some, learning more and more.
I’m not that good of a story teller.
But I thought maybe I should update this thread.
The frame/chassi came together.
Have seen that a few ppl have broke there nose-cone.
I shopped it Like you where going to.
But I also took a extra bit out in front. Got much more clearance now.
Will see.
Made a centre steering beam.
Trying if I can rescue some of metal.
Went ok. But yeah.....
Fixed a -69 beetle gearbox.
Flipped spindles.
Got a bit carried away with how the metal press was on different bits.
From 50-55 especially this piece.
Really don’t have much to do with the build.
But..
I have at this point decided that I want as much metal from the Wolfsburg factory as possible. Not the best idea maybe.
But I’m learning and trying.
I have a pretty bad bus so if I make it I’ll make it.
Here are the dog legs I paired to make one.
Just realized I did not have a picture of when it was done.
The. Some friends wanted to come and have a look.
Now here is a pretty big jump in work.
Don’t know why I didn’t take more pictures.
The bus looks more ready then what it is there.
The og firewall was in really bad condition. Maybe worse then the air intake.
So I made a new one.
Did not have the cabin metal piece. Between the B-posts.
So in d end I ended up doing one.
Got a bit ballzy ended up trying to make more metal parts.
Some good parts.
Trying out what colors I like. Flat gold or gold and black.
Me and the daughter doing some Easter fun.
Eh she was painting and I really was in the mood to fold some paper.
This was a really fun piece to try out.
And this is the last picture. Taken 2days ago.
The strange, to some, weel arc in the front is a raise arc. I got 15mm extra room for the tire that way. And that’s dubbel as much as I had before.
Now the supports for the front sofa will go in.
I’m going to smoth out some parts and check for errors. Then paint it again. |

Thanks guys!
Hi Scotty, hope I’ll se you next year.
Where working on the transmission mounting at nose-cone and realized that you have to shorten the right sides bolt head.
It sort of work with a normal bolt-head but then you don’t get any clearance.
It’s a good thing too check for if your bolting in a beetle gearbox.
Maybe obvious, and well known. But yeah.

Soooo checked for errors....
And painted it again.
Have been looking for a front sofa.
But haven’t found one.
So I made one.
Built a frame, then took some springs from a T3 DC sofa.
Will have this until I find a og one.
The seat is done as well. But did not have a good picture of it.

nice work. Would it not have been easier to make a frame and put foam on it instead? give you some height back? _________________ regards

Had a friend over. We where trying some door options.
The OG doors I have is in very bad condition.
So to fix the MoT I will use these doors for that.
Talking about rim color options. Real fun talk.
Thanks for the help pushing the bus out Gb.
And thanks Mange for the help pushing it back in.

Yeah went for the safari windows.
Really glad I did. I really like the look of them.
Let’s see how I feel about them after the first ride in bad weather.
Thanks Ben, appreciate it!
Haha if it had gone too “some kid” in England the bus would
have had a more killer look.
And I way better project tread.
Congrats on the Radiohallen build. MAD! |
