Close up:
I can't tell for sure if that Deluxe is a Barndoor or not
It does look like the front emblem is upside down though |
Check out the roof line in front. It’s two straight gutters. Also, there is another bus (Kombi?) 5 cars down in the same row. |
I agree it does look peaked in the larger version.
Now that I think about it, the seats look black to me, which would be Barndoor
55-58 are a lighter tan that I think would be lighter in that photo |
Also there's no bullet turn signals , must have had semiphores. |
Good point that would be unlikely in 1957 in the USA unless it was a Barndoor _________________ How to Post Photos

Awesome ambulance photos! Is that a second stretcher mounted to the wall and ceiling around mid-window height in that hi-roof or just a storage rack of some kind. Cool!

I think it's a double decker berth. The top and bottom crash victim could be worked on at once. Top victim is jostled more but so what at that point. If so, I wonder if it has extendable tracks or what. I bet it does fold flat down against the wall in case they need it out of the way. |

I've got many more pictures about these specially coachbuilt Ambulances. |
So maybe not on the double person theory unless they put them in then the rack raises up. |

This was in The Reader 2-27-19, a San Diego free-press. It might be a Bay but could be either. Back then Jack-in-the-Box was only in a couple rare locations other than San Diego.
