I absolutely LOVE that color shot of the suspended city monorail train! Very cool! And you say it was in Wuppertal? I wonder if it's still there, very futuristic looking back then!

In my youth (when I was about 18 and still daily drove my '64 Beetle) I drove a smaller suspended two-car monorail train and gave "how beer is made here" tours of the Anhauser Busch Brewery in Van Nuys, CA way back when they had a "Busch Gardens" adjoining the brewery. In addition for years I also drove one of those 40 passenger "Jungleland style" boats all throughout the Gardens and it's beer pavilions and conducted bird and wildlife tours from the boat. Yep, I've had a few odd jobs! The Gardens are long gone, not sure if the AB Brewery there still has the Brewery tour via that old monorail or not? Can anyone local confirm? Here's a short video of the Gardens, monorail and boats back then:

it has been there since 1901, and it is still there, modernized, of course, but it is still there.

Were the boats on a track? Buses hanging as the monorail cars would be the bees' knees today.

But not running at the moment. The power rails are being replaced after a piece fell off and hit a car. Luckily no one got hurt.

I've been on that tour and rode that monorail in the mid 70's. I don't remember the boats so either it was closed or we didn't take that tour. I do remember they had free beer in the garden area which was like a big park. Dad would send me over the kiosk to get him a beer. I would get two and say one was for mom, but hers never made it back to where they were sitting. Wink
