Good spot dude Wink Lucky enough to still have the original side pop outs, latches, sunroof mech, etc all still there when the bus was found, but with the lowering of this one I also decided to add a set of aftermarket safaris up front Cool I managed to source a pair of original barndoor wiper disengagers to use as well, but I’m jumping ahead of myself now. Next up, I’ll dig out some snaps of the running gear ........

Can you please add some fauxtina logos and graphics to it. Something like period 50s advertising/ logos for Chris Craft Boats would be awesome!!
or can someone at least photoshop it on there?

I love the pic of the boat in as found condition with the roof clip off to the side.

epic story, killer build! Im looking forward to Hayburner even more than i do usually.

No, I didn’t sell the Quality Sound deluxe in the end dude. I love that bus and me and Mo had a lot of laughs using it last year. Sadly though, and with this one now finished, one of these barndoor deluxes really ought to be going to a new home. Watch this space I guess, or hit me up if you need a barndoor deluxe in your life Cool

Thanks dude. Yeh, it's kind of sad that Jeff and I ended up parting company how we did, but with hindsight, I'm very happy that it worked out for the best. I've got Ollie at Beetle Magic, with his years of experience, on my side, as well as various other skilled and knowledgeable people who have wanted to get involved in my projects for a while now. I'm already looking forward to the next one, lined up for some welding work from someone with a lot of Barndoor specific knowledge which will be a great help!! Cool

Anyway, back to the Regna. I'll let my friends at Hayburner run the article before I post the finished pics up here, and in the meantime I'll carry on updating the build...…...

My last couple of builds, QS and Tocksfors, have been stock height buses. This time we fancied doing something more along the lines of my old "A1 mobile Locksmith" kombi, and so a custom 4” narrowed beam with extended shock towers was built from a later, centre pin, item. We coupled this to drop spindles and modified a later steering column to work with a raised steering box. Stopping power is from CSP disk brakes.

And finally, the rear. It's a lot harder to make the rear ride well without surgery, and I wanted all the mods to be "bolt-on". We ended up using a rebuilt and reinforced bug gearbox with a longer 4th, built by Tom Gotta of WheelerDealer. Type three drums were bolted up via adjustable spring plates, and the bus is powered by the old 1776 out of my A1 Mobile Locksmiths kombi, now completely rebuilt by Beetle Magic and running twin 40’s and a Vintage Speed stainless exhaust. I also added a remote oil cooler just in case, and some gauges up front to keep an eye on things ……..

I stumbled over an album of this build on facebook today and almost could not believe it! Somehow it was already clear to me that Ben had to be involved somehow Razz

This is great, simply great. Although i have to admit that i would have also enjoyed a ride with that boat too Laughing

Thanks guys Cool

It won't be at the show this weekend I'm afraid. I'm not displaying anything, but I will be popping up for the day and having a few beers with everyone.

Couple of photos of the inside getting painted / blended, and the bumpers and trim going on .....

Well I never! I didn't think you could get an MOT with glass missing or was that added for the MOT? Having said that the vehicle is MOT exempt under the Historic Vehicle Rules, though totally understand the reasons for getting one.
