I got a chance to meet Jen and Dave today and see this bus in person, man it looks good. The work he has done and the stuff he has planned is top notch, when done it will definitely be one of those instantly recognized and known buses.
I am glad I had the chance to meet you guys, genuine nice people. If you are near Norwalk Ohio, do yourself a favor and arrange a visit, cool things are afoot in Norwalk! |
Thanks, man!! It was really great having you over, drinking coffee and wrenching on a bus!! Please stop by any time you and Amanda are around Norwalk. Cheers!! _________________ Leroux's Autowerks “like us on fb”

You may want to eliminate those screws into the edge grain of the plywood, that will be a very week point int he system. Weld some tabs to the underside of the frame and screw up through those into the bottom of the plywood. Much stronger in the long run.
Looking great, love the tartan! |
That’s the first thought I had on how to build them and I almost did. But the frames lay directly on the pedastals and are not load bearing. Truthfully I was just trying to keep the seats as low profile as possible. This super slammed tubbing a thing is a terrible idea lol. It’s perfect for car shows and around town cruising, but it’s definitely not practical for daily use. I did achieve the look I was after. If I ever get my hands on a nice original bus, I’m surely wont go this route, but that’s the benefit of saving a really trashed bus. You can do what ever and it doesn’t really affect the value IMO. _________________ Leroux's Autowerks “like us on fb”

Deep tubs are pretty far from practical, but this was the perfect bus to build that way. A deep tubbed, passenger side front seat in a walk through has got to be one of the least comfortable spots in bus-dom.
Looking great man. Nice work by both of you. _________________ nothing |

Holy crap Dave!!! Is that a replacement roof, or did you graft in the windows and sunroof? It looks amazing in the photo. I can only wonder what you will do next on this bus!
Awesome job on an awesome bus! |

Oh yeah! Would have looked cool with just the sunroof grafted in imho.
Btw, you really did it right? For some reason there's a voice in my head trying to convince me it's a very nice photoshop. Sorry.. _________________ My 1958 PGSG project topic |

Its real LOL. I used funky green and the legacy sunroof. The total conversion was under $1800. To be honest im not sure if i like it. All's i could think about was how great it will on summer nights laying in the back with Jen. I really loved the 13 window too 😔. It unusual for me to go this far off the path as everything else i own is kept stock. I do on occasion like larger motors or being lowered. No body mods tho.
Im really exhausted working on it. Ive been working 65 hours a week on other peoples VW's and then trying to get mine done and at the end of the day theres just not enough ambition left. At this point im working on making it run and drive. It may be half in primer with no interior. I dont know yet.
Thank you everyone!
