You can bend the cap clips with needle nose pliers

A friends car had an issue with blowing rotors and caps. It was the brass gear that was bad

As soon as I get my Ghighi back, I’ll check that out.

The most common cause of this is a points replacement device, which the mfgs don't tell you REQUIRE THAT YOU SHORTEN THE ROTOR BOTTOM TO CLEAR THE MAGNET WHEEL.

If you don't do this, the rotor sits too high and the cap can never fully seat, and parts break.

Because I have a Pertronix distributor, I've been following this thread closely.
John, is the remedy for this taking the rotor to a grinder and grinding material away from the bottom, thus making the rotor "shorter"?
Sounds like everybody with a new Chinese Pertronix should do this?
Should I expect other problems with this dizzy too? Rolling Eyes

yes, shorten the bottom of the rotor until you have a slight gap between the rotor and magnet wheel.
