Purple/Black wire under Ashtray

I'm having issues with an Alpine car stereo no longer working properly - intermittent operation and some other issues.

Under the Ashtray, I see a Purple/Black wire with a crimp terminal on it but no wire connecting into the crimp terminal. That color is not called out in the Alpine install manual, so it likely belongs to my 1986 Van.

Does that wire sound familiar to anybody?

Purple with black tracer is usually aftermarket stereo wire for right rear speaker speaker (negative).
