My speedo needle is broken and I have a backup Speedo - missing the little pin the needle rests on - not activated.

So I have to move needle from one - to the other speedo.

I've tried to pull the needle off with a pair of pliers. But it wont come off.

Any tips and tricks for this?

Rgds, Henrik

I've done this on a Golf speedo, I had to be quite firm but it did pop off, I had to literally prise it off. I'm not sure if it is the same with the bus needle but likely so I would imagine.

Pretty sure I managed it with my fingers to avoid any damage to the needle itself.

I also would like to know if anyone has been able to get the speedo needle off.
I have tried pulling with fingers and carefully prying with needlenose pliers and have not yet been able to even move the needle. Penetrating oil doesn't help.

They are very brittle and I don't want to break another.

One other tip.

If you aren't careful, you'll put the new one on in the wrong spot and your speedo will read way off.

Gently lift the needle up and over over the stop (the post at the 10 MPH spot) and note where it rests before trying to pry it off.

Reinstall the new needle in the same position and you then gently lift it up and over the stop again and you should end up with a correct-reading speedometer.

That is probably why the needle in the pic with the wrenches is pointing at about the 100 MPH position.
