Last sunroof question, I swear.

Other than trying to find that, has anyone ever made something out of cardboard to do the same thing? |

Not that I'm aware of. While it might be possible, it's got to be both thin and stiff to keep it from sagging, and go into the roof. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yeah, you can run without it, but you'll have to remove the roof section to install it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That's a pretty involved stamping...
Are sunroof parts getting that hard to find anymore? _________________ Bus Motor Build

basically this
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2258865
These things are all over the super beetle classifieds. I can't imagine this doesn't share a part number with us...
Eyeballing this one, looks correct to me. And my late model square has already shared quite a few parts with a super. Bit too expensive for me to take a gamble on, gonna look into it.
If anyone has some insight please let me know. |

I'd pass on it. I believe it's too narrow width wise, and too short length wise. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I'll see if i can't get someone nice to make measurements for me. or find VW part numbers for both somehow. I can't imagine its that far off
Grasping at straws here. I feel for the Type 34 guys now. Finding the stuff VW didn't want to parts-bin is a pain. |

the type 34 sunroof has an extra piece as well, a thin metal rectangle surround. I thought I had a pic but couldnt find it the other day, I was going to post it here asking if it was just type 34 or not... _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

The type 34 sunroof is all by itself, just like the rest of the t-34 body. It's one of the reasons I sold mine...lack of replacement body metal, and anything related to it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

yep, it was more 356 and less VW. so I found this. Type 34 has this style, part number 2. might be able to get away with something similar on a type3 if you can't find the part

where did you get those pics of the 356 sunroof ?
I would like to see more if possible as am looking for references for a buddys 356 manual sunroof like that and he will probably need that piece too.

Hey guys this thread is about me, remember?
I can't find any measurements on super beetle sunroofs or anything else.
Guess i'm still stuck with combing the classifieds. |

There's one in the link you originally posted.
Most Beetle sunroof parts will not fit a Type 3 as the lid is wider and longer. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

I found an angel in the classifieds that hooked me up with a type 3 panel.
This sunroof is nickel and dimeing me to death. |
