Well work has well and truly started over at Sublime Classic Restorations...

Chris started by popping the rear wings off and knocking out the big dent without damaging the paint and then repairing the rust at the lower edges.

Popped over to Sublime yesterday to check out the progress and drop my seats in so the floorpan can be finished properly.

Quality of work by chris is incredible, definitely recommend Sublime if you need work in the UK.

With the pan out the way and the wings off there is some extra bits of rot to sort out but nowhere near as bad as could have been. Hopefully sorted some body cuts for the rear airbox / bumper mount areas so that will save some time.

That's very common on type 3s. For some reason they all seem to go there on the right side. But the left side does go there too.

Some more updates....

I’ve been trying to get hold of some body cuts to sort the rear corners / bumper mounts etc and the bits in front of the rear arches. Fingers crossed can sort some cuts to save having to make it all by hand.

Anyway... the drivers side outer rocker panel is a bit fucked so will be replaced completely

The drivers door was worse than first thought too, but is in progress on the repair.

Passenger side was not as bad and only needs a small repair on the rocker, and the door is now all fixed Smile

Also as the front of the car had been modernised at some point in its life with a moustache trim, the holes had to be welded back up, and the two holes for a number plate on the front valance

All these areas will be blended in to the pearl white and aged appropriately.

They are but this is an early car so shouldn’t be there, and I don’t want a front number plate on the panel.
