I have a question regarding Radio installations at dealerships. It seems the Bendix radios, the Sapphire's weren't available until 1960. I have a 57 bug that I acquired with a Sapphire I 1BV model with original Bendix speaker as well.
That leads me to my question of when this radio would have been installed. Am I incorrect in thinking this radio was only available from 1960+? I'm just curious to know if some other radio would have been more "period" correct for a dealer installed option in 1957.
As I side note, I couldn't find a picture of the original speaker listed in the repair manual (2091269-10) for the Sapphire I (1BV) model, so I will upload a picture of mine later to the gallery for future reference; still has the stamp on the back. |
