then you might be able to post them?
The scoop i comming from 69 ghia covertible, it is a former
california car, but now it is here in Denmark.
The car should suppossingly have been sat away in 1979,
anybody knows when they started reproducing the scoops? |

It appears they were available as early as 1956, which is the first year that Karmann Ghias were available in any numbers. The VW Judson Register is an excellent resource for information about this sort of thing. They have a 1956 dated installation manual that reads:
Quote: |
KARMANN GHIA COUPE. On this model it is necessary to make a revision in the rear deck lid because of insufficient clearance in the engine compartment. A modification or scoop for the rear deck lid is included in the kit for the Ghia Coupe. Complete instructions and a template for mounting the modification is packed with the scoop.

As an interesting aside to this issue, when at the Hessisch Oldendorf Vintage Show I spotted a Judson Scoop on a '66 Karmann Ghia Coupe. It was fitted the "wrong" way round. At least that's what most would consider but to be honest who's to say? I thought I'd ask the owner.
It turned out that it's owned by Brent Carter form Boise, Idaho someone with whom I've exchanged many emails over the last few years...it was good to meet him at last.
Brent was on the 50th Anniversary Tour from the US in his Judson KG daily driver. His KG certainly makes a good case for Judson reliability
Just to put the "icing on the cake" Brent walked away with the trophy for "The Longest Journey" driven for a show entry.
I'll post some pictures when I get home from work. _________________ John.

I am adding pictures of what appears to be an original Judson air scoop (or at least one of similar quality) that is unmarked. (No 'Judson Research / Ghia Scoop') on the underside. This scoop belongs to Peter_Plade.
I don't want to comment too much as I've never handled an original scoop -- but it certainly looks like the 'real thing' to me. |

Although most people will look at you as if you are retarded for mounting the scoop this way, I was testing my mock Judson scoop the other day, it lowered the case temp by 25-30 degrees and my engine temp by 10-15 degrees when I mounted it this way! I think I'm going to leave it reversed! _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert
