I like that you're showing how you fix even the simplest of things. Like the rusted window channel lip, I would not have thought of fixing it like you did. Smart! _________________

I had to put the project on hold, but yes I plan on finishing it. I hit a roadblock I need to fix before I can do the rest of the bodywork. I have the driver door gaps perfect to factory spec, but the driver door gaps are a problem. Even with the replacement door, there is just too much gap no matter how I adjust thing. I actually need some help, pics soon _________________ Check out my truck brought back from the dead... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420762&highlight=sprayed+blood

The original plan for this engine was to go distributorless and run a small side draft carb. Now, I’m going to go full fuel injection. This is a TBI unit from a 1990 Chevy Beretta 2.2. I just couldn’t justify spending $350 for the Mikuni carb I wanted. It was going to be a pain to tune, still require fabrication and have fit issues. The TBI was $30 on eBay, and just over $100 after I restore it with new sensors and gaskets.
I didn’t feel the need to do port injection on a single port headed engine. Others have added injection on the intake side of the supercharger to keep intake temps down. Seems like a win-win setup for me. _________________ Check out my truck brought back from the dead... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420762&highlight=sprayed+blood

I decided to do a light duty breather box to help this engine breathe easy. I wanted a specific size to fit on my fan shroud above the supercharger. It has a PCV valve in the top part, but I can convert it to be a regular breather if I want. It still needs to be cleaned up and polished once I finish the air cleaner and intake piping.

Yup. I needed a reason to keep practicing. It's stupidly overbuilt with 1/8" plate, but it's what I had. I have a Lincoln 200 square wave and I upgraded the torch to water cooled with a cheap eBay water cooler. It's pretty awesome not putting the torch down to cool off constantly.
I have realized that I sunburn very easily from it. Wearing a black canvas type long sleeve welding jacket, I got burned on my arms where my T shirt stopped. I need to get a thin leather jacket! _________________ Check out my truck brought back from the dead... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420762&highlight=sprayed+blood

That’s what I’m afraid my wife will figure out about my 62 rag Baja ...
Problem is I’ve already had dreams of a low rider with adjustable suspension to navigate the potholes of the Midwest ... maybe just lower & narrow the front end ... it doesn’t have to be fast as long as it keeps up with highway traffic ... it just has to look cool. |

Thanks. I've got big plans next year pushing to get it done. Last week, I bought paint, primer and clear. Finding someone local to rent me a paint booth has led to nothing but dead ends, so I'll be building one out of a portable car port. I have a beast of a shop floor fan that should flow really nice.
Carpet and mats are ordered up from Wolfsburg West, and seat covers/door panels are coming from Sewfine. They are about 8 weeks out though. Next year is my goal now for paint, or at least body and metal work finished. I'd been waiting for some extra cash and now I have it. I fixed up and flipped an American car to do it Engine and the last bit of mechanical stuff will be last. I'd like my first drive to be a finished car, for once. _________________ Check out my truck brought back from the dead... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420762&highlight=sprayed+blood

Grey carpet, rubber black mats/tunnel like stock. Gray vinyl panels/seat covers with black piping hidden stitch H pattern like earlier oval. Pretty basic. I thought about going with just some TMI covers, but I really wanted stitched pleats and the heavy duty "XTR" leather-like vinyl that Sewfine sells. I paid extra for a nice correct cover on my single cab seat and I'm really glad I did. Plus, I bit the bullet with the Lenny Copp headliner so I'm pretty much stuck going all the way with quality now. _________________ Check out my truck brought back from the dead... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420762&highlight=sprayed+blood
