I say its Cal Look, but because theres always a cat in it or on it the wife says its the Cat-Look Beetle, lol. I picked this up two years ago off this site and have been driving it as is. Awesome commuter, don't worry about it getting dinged up or scratched up, let alone stolen. Just enjoy rolling it !!!

Pics when I got it...

The car is a 71 standard beetle, adjustable front end and lowered spindles. Aftermarket stock interior, had some nasty shag carpet in it. It promptly got ripped out, which revealed that pan was in great shape, the battery tray needing some slight attention.

Originally the car had come with a fresh 1641 with some terrible running 36 Dellortos., I took apart the motor and put some 88 P/C to bump it up to a 1679, at the same time I rebuilt some 40 Kadrons with some custom venturies, jets, and velocity stacks from Jeff at the Kaddie Shack. I drove that for a few months and then traded the motor for a 1914 with dual 44's.

I drove it til winter and finally decided the car needed some issues addressed to make it bulletproof. A short listed of what needed to be done:

Rebuild carbs
Get rid of electrical gremlins
Install rear disk brake setup
Install some additional gauges
New window rubbers and fender beading
Install stereo system
Clean paint up and make what ever I can better on my beater!!!

Will update with pics as I find time for it...

Some disassembly to clean the fenderwells up. About 50% of the factory undetcoating had peeled off. When I cleaned it up with the pressure washer the other 50% peeled off, lol. All the fender wells are rust free ! I even managed to get all the fender bolts to come out without any type of carnage. I guess their is a first time for everything...

"Cat-Rod" its catchy, lol. Thanks brother. Im starting to find/make time to tinker with this project.

This car has no cancer it's pretty clean, which makes it a pleasure not having to replace a bunch of metal. Came out of your state Eric.

Before I parked it the pedal assembly was a lol sticky. When I started messing with it, I found the pedal assembly had completely siezed!!! Got it apart and cleaned up. It fought me every step of the way (I wouldn't have it any other way, no fun when stuff is easy, lol) Had to bust out the BFH, It won!!!

Ive slowly been chipping away at the car. Did some more rust neutralizing to the pan and bottom of fenders. I ran all the bolts in my tumbler, they cleaed pretty well. I also reapplied undercoating to fenders and wheel wells.
