I just pulled into a WaWa and as I finished cleaning the windshield the guy in the next stall asked:
"What is that? It looks like it had sex with a tank!"

A friend (vw nerd) recently said he rubs himself on my van as he passes it at work. Is that a compliment? _________________ - Jim

From some dude standing in front of a store:
Oh, wait; you said best heard...
Aside from all of the "it's beautiful/gorgeous/so pretty" comments, the best would be from a neighbor: "Wow! It's huge inside!" Then he got a shock when I interrupted his advice for an air-cooled engine to tell him, "Um, it's water-cooled"... _________________ ~Kamz

Today some super suave young stud in a cherried out old Jag looked my van up and down and gave me a big grin and thumbs up. No words were spoken. _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

When we first got our van we went for our first long road trip to Vermont when what seemed like a case of vanagon syndrome started to show. I pulled off the highway into the parking lot of a convenient store to try to diagnose the problem when these two 20 something stoners (they smelled like they had been sprayed by a skunk) came up to the drivers side window and one of them in a dead ringer Spiccoli voice said, “man this van is F___ING AWESOME!” The other kid just kept saying, “so dope man, seriously, so dope.” I said, “its not too awesome right now, but thanks.” My kids who were 2 1/2 and 4 kept repeating, “F___ing awesome” after the two guys left my wife and I did our best to not laugh out loud at the kids.
We did make it back to our home without a tow on that trip. A few stutters here and there but we made it. That was the trip that convinced me of going down the conversion path.
The other compliment we’ve heard several times is, “I didn’t know they still made these.” I always get a kick out of that one. |

While camping at the paddocks at a friends race weekend, there was a SERIOUS RV setup behind us... Rolled out of bed one morning and while I walked past the RV, the owner motioned at my van and said "Now that's how to camp out!".
It puzzled me, because clearly money wasn't an issue for that guy, he could afford any rig he wants! Felt good because I had RV envy as he rolled up the night before. _________________ '91 GL - 2.1 automatic named Klaus for weekend adventures.

My wife and I were parked near an attraction in Yellowstone Park one rainy spring day, inside the van changing into some other clothes (limo tint). When we opened the slider there were 3 tourists down on their knees admiring the new front suspension bits I had installed recently. _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |
