Hi there, thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we haven't extended our retail presence into San Diego yet. The closest you can get to Westfalia is probably LA county

We're in most big chains (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Grocery Outlet, etc.) and some liquor stores.

OK since Im having a come to Jesus moment on screwing up my paint. If you didn't catch it the first time - here it is again. Having custom clamps made for an oversize awning that crushed your drip rail Dumb ass. Engineering was rectified but not before a bus was injured in the process.

Same guy - the Marco referred by aeromech - Gary, fixed this OG paint section to perfection. Stew was on hand and threw on my new Fiamma rack.

Im going to be stoked to ride, then hide under my bat-wing with a cold one.

So Id been tossing around the idea about putting sliders in the middle windows of my Westy. The Jalousie in this rig are in desperate need of a refresh and rattle like all the bones in the Paris underground. I almost bought a new set of sliders but was able to make a good set from five old Rivi ones that were broke.

The decision was made to move forward when I was able to use the original gasket. Its a hard rubber/urethane type gasket used between the window and inner trim/seal strip. Later Riviera windows were set in using a plain window gaskets. These are a bit antiquated, but get the job done like their modern counterparts. The install is similar to Westfalia in using the window frame with channels for the screws to set in and hold.

I spent the better part of a day pulling pieces together to make the set, cleaning and installing these. But I tell you what, that first drive was heaven. The amount of rattle the old Jalousie produced was staggering. I always thought my slider was going to fall off. No, it was that damn window.

Now I can open up and get air while driving and not worry about gashing the shit out of my back on a corner when slipping down the side. I've only caught myself on Jalousie windows four times. But I remember each time with vivid, bloody, back scratching pain.

I also fully installed the Fiamma Bike rack. Ill be on the trail tonight.

I’m digging your camper window upgrade. I completely rebuilt both my westy windows with all new seals and it was less than fun. I can see the obvious benefit to those sliders and you’ve got me thinking about doing it now.

I have that bike rack and I love it. But I’m not a huge fan of needing tools for install/removal. I wanted it to be easier to remove as I don’t always want it on. So after a quick trip to Lowe’s and opening up the upper holes slightly I was able to swap the bolts for some locking pins. Works great and now I don’t need any tools to install or remove the rack.

How did you get the bottom to pull tight? Thats a neat hack to get it off easier! I cant open the back with the rack on and the awning open.

Also a side note. My Jalousie are bad. The outer gasket is shrunk and hard. Nothing near the way it should be. I have the complete gasket kit to rebuild them and will have to do so on my 74 for sure to keep it mostly original. But the windows on the 74 are in better shape. I dont think they were exposed to miles of being open, rattling in the wind and getting jacked up from bumps.

On the pic below you can see how the frame was able to move in the opening. Regardless of the 30 odd screw holding them in.

Those Wolfsberg West Jalousie seal kits are very good and do the job.

The jury is out on the windows themselves on our westy as my better half loves them by the fact she doesnt have to have the window cranked open much to keep her comfortable.

Its all good fun!
