Went and picked up a rental truck with an auto transport trailer. You know what that means!
Yes, tomorrow morning I'm going to pick up a 72 Super I found here on The Samba.
Thank you Samba!
Going to have a sweet bug for my 40 miles of daily commute.
First order of business: it has an H case 1600 SP, I'll get it back with the correct exhaust, carb and distributor.
I'm sitting on a 113905205M and I'll get a German 30/31 and a Dansk muffler.
Can't wait to be getting my hands dirty!

Nice! Enjoy!
After many moons of driving Bugs I still share your enthusiasm. As a matter of fact, my enthusiasm continues to grow.
I've often wondered why so many people want to drive by wire. Wouldn't they rather have real steel between their hands and the wheels? And why brake by wire when you can pulse or lock up your wheels just easily at your discretion?
Do you really want your engine managed by a device you don't control or know anything about? Points may be tedious to some but are doable by most.
Wouldn't you rather have a good old fashion mechanical accelerator cable pulling on a good old fashion mechanical carburetor? Hard to see those electrons moving around on a chip even if you could figure out what they were doing.
As for our dash and speedometer...isn't real analog gauging better than a plastic video display? Isn't a comfortable thin round steering wheel better than a big fat obtuse flat-bottom thing? Do you really need 15 USB ports and cup holders?
And when your daily driver breaks down, as it eventually will, wouldn't you rather depend on your own hands and skill rather than CarShield? You'll do a better and more cost effective job and have fun doing it.
That's why I drive, love and use my Bugs daily, just like you. |

What a long day. Over 500 miles round trip, but we're home with the new bug!

Nice haul! Reminds me of the day I brought my bug home on the Uhaul trailer!
