Thanks everyone! Pulling it out of the shop under it's own power was surreal. My son got to drive a split window bus for the first time! He just got his drivers license last Thursday. We took some videos that my son will send the instagram link to. Still alot to do. We are hoping to drive it safely and legally to the Maine VW club dustoff this Sunday. 200+ miles each way. I am going out of town today and won't be back until Thursday, so we will have to be productive. I made a quick list of what needs to be done before we drive it:
No sweat.
I also need a turn signal switch and two fixed window seals that i thought I had. WW Next Day Air I guess.
Oh yeah, the motor is untested, but has about 1 mile on it now. Can't wait!
We had to set the roof rack on this morning:

its kind of a surreal looking photo of it sitting there with the remains of his friend behind on the wall. Wouldnt have been much longer until they were both wall hangers. |

It’s crazy that this one survived as much as it did. We’re lucky they didn’t need another transaxle or this one would have been on its side too. |

There is a good amount of story-telling to be done surrounding this past weekend. I don't want to steal all of the thunder from my dad, so I will leave that part to him. Here are some pictures to give you an idea:
Lots of ups and downs, but overall quite a weekend. We made it to Kittery and back!!! |
