I didn't think it was physically possible but I actually managed to make Riviera's even uglier. UGH 😖💩👎
well this color didn't work as planned, next time I'll try the copper. |

The copper doesn't really look good either, 🤮
It looks like I will have to just go with boring old black. |

I've seen these done in a classic "Gold" Tone with Black accent in lug bolt holes and they look pretty good with a set of these "PI" center caps.

Those caps are pretty slick. Unfortunately for me they are for the O.G. Riv's with the larger center hole.
Mine have 2-1/2 center.
When I finally do figure out the right color I would like to find some shorter brushed aluminum caps. |

well here is round 3 of the Riviera wheel test.
this time I went with a matte black hammer finish, not as black as I was expecting but 10 times better than the other two. |

Definitely nicer, at least 10x
It looks sort of a really dark grey-silver to me in the pic, not sure if it's more black in person |
you're right it did come out more grey than black. but the can said matte black. 🤔
I'll stare at it for the next few days and see how I feel about it then.
The wheels aren't going on the Ghia anytime soon. |

finally decided on a color for these things. was gonna keep the matte black that I sprayed on the last one but I wasn't feeling it.
so I'm going with std. black hammer finish.
I'll let the back side dry for a few days then finish up the front.
also found some center caps in an unexpected place, will paint those to match the wheels. |

test fitting some 205/65r15 that I swiped off my bug ( going back to a 205/70r15 on the bug anyway) so far the fit looks good, a little close to the spring plate adjuster so I'll keep an eye on that during the test drive.
new lug nuts & studs are ordered and on the way. I'll be painting the center caps to match later on today . |

Well I got em all mounted up, I do like the way they came out "BUT" I do have some rubbing issues up front.
was hoping that the lower profile 145/65r15 up front would compensate for the wider 5.5 up front but it didn't work out as planned.
( was previously running a 4.5 wide with std 145s that worked OK )
I wanna keep the Rivs on so I might have to go back to the stock spindles and just use the adjusters to get ride height right, I'm already as high as the beam adjusters will go while running the dropped spindles.
I know I know . . the back could definitely go a little lower with a simple adjustment but thats not gonna solve my front rub problem. |

was able to find a little more adjustment in front this morning, got it up another inch.
dropped the rear a little bit more to even it out a bit.
no rubbing during this mornings test drive . . getting close and lookin better.

Nice ride height. And the rims look like cookie cutters at first. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far
