Hello,

I'm working for a reproduction of a vintage Bosch battery box with a modern 6V battery inside

This is the vintage battery

And I used a 6V Optima battery Redtop RTS2.1
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I used a 3D software for drawing the new battery box

The box with the battery inside

The box only

I chose the dimensions for a 25cm battery cover

I'm looking for a 3D printing manufacturer for a prototype

Tell me if you're interested by this part and I think it's possible to make a mold for more parts

I’m interested but for the Porsche, not the Ghia.

Sweet.
(this is not an add so if moderators think this is against the rules they can erase my post)
In my part of the world (EU Slovenia) one can get a new PB-Sn 6V battery in "oldtimer" housing. I don't know who is original producer but local slovene internet store carries them under name intAct Oldtimer-Power:

Seems like the Servis classic batteries are a little expensive, with shipping to the states, would be a hefty price. Maybe just the case for the optima would be a cheaper route? I would be into it!

I completly understand. I'm thinking about SS bumpers (Euro style despite the obvous shape/fastening shortcomings) from non EU countries and if you calculate in our customs and tax they become bloody expensive.

Its the same as the usual 6v battery for a Ghia. AFAIK. nothing special about it. What is common these days is people running the optima battery on its own without the box. I think your box idea will work better.

If you’re in the US, try Shapeways. I’ve used them in the past for 3D-printed parts with great results.

I give news of my project.
A friend kindly printed me in 3 D a few centimeters from the top of the battery box
Here is what it gives (the color and the material will not be the same)

The top of the battery fits perfectly in the box.

The bus battery cover also fits very well

Very nice. Since it's 3D printed, is it sturdy and will it last?

For the defintive 3D printing I'll use ABS material .
It will be sturdier than PLA material.

perhaps it is a good idea to make the Opening crosswise in the box? so you can install the battery exact for your car, not only karmann ghia. have the buttonplate in front and the pole of battery you Need.

Here is the continuation :

I printed in 3D the box and the lower cover in black ABS

Here's what it gives:

The box :

The lower cover :

All 3 pieces :

The most tedious part: remove the feet from the battery with the Dremel without damaging the battery

Mettre en place la batterie dans le coffret

I had to make retouches on the case because I have the feeling that the ABS printing respects less the dimensions of the original drawing.
This stuck at the level of the installation of the upper part of the battery in the case as well as the lower part.
To be awesome it would be necessary to retouch the 3D file.game.

After setting up the Bosch logo:

With the top cover:

I checked there is still enough place between the battery terminals and the battery cover.
