I am doing a few thing to my 1974 Thing. Where you place the seat belt into the connector at the center console is pretty grungy. Faded coloring on the Press button, flaking chrome, etc. Does any vendor just sell these? I don't need the seatbelt.

Are you discussing the chrome "hoop" that straddles the hump and receives the lap belt? Most common to the type III's, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm fairly sure I don't have the original seat belts in my front seat.

What was the original setup? Did it change?

Pictures always help, but the ones I see are the same as mine, black plastic with an orange release button. If you are not concerned with stock, there are many options available.

Yes those are the ones that I have. I finally had to paint the black plastic as it would not really get clean like "new". New stainless steel screws and it looks good, EXCEPT, for the orange Press sticker. It is faded and some letters are worn off.

I would love to find those stickers, so as to keep the original look. Anybody know of a source?

I got a pair on eBay a couple years ago. Searching "VW Repa" I found these:

You might contact the seller for the longer ones needed for the front receivers.

or this:

Or make your own:
