I have a single cab, and it is rusted out completely where the cab meets the bed. Before I start repair, I just want make sure the distance is right, since at the moment the cab steel can flex in any direction. I have a pretty good idea of where the metal was, but to be sure, could somebody give me the measurement between the cab and header panel at the front of the bed? This little measurement did not seem to pop up anywhere online. Thanks

Is this where you want a measurement?
If so, do you want A or B?

B is the measurement I am after. But either will work, as I just have to pull my cab steel toward the bed until I have the right distance. Thanks

My measurement there is 1 1/8" (inches)... but it is not perfectly consistent, those bed bulk heads take some punishment.

I measured near the vertical can seam on each side.
Both sides the same. Neither over an inch.
I’d call “A” a fat 24 mm, or a fat 15/16”
I’d call “B” a fat 21 mm, or a fat 13/16”

A - 1.030”

B - 1.00”

Measurements (using a dial caliper) taken from my ‘66 single cab that never had a hard life as a commercial vehicle.

Your number is more precise.

In case the channel varies in width (at all) over it’s length, please say at what location the measurement was taken... ie. 1/4” to the outside of the vertical cab seam.

I think a measurement closer to the side would be more convenient for the OP to use in reassembly (vs. directly below the center of back window).

I took my measurements on the drivers side just below the rear window corner and a little ways toward the middle of the window. Actually was getting some pretty consistent readings in that area and right next to the gate latch.

Thanks everyone for checking. Looks like the number will vary quite a bit from truck to truck. Looks like if I shoot for about an inch, I can't really get it wrong.

I’ll say it again, these buses were put together by hand. No 2 buses are identically the same. Or as I always figure, if you can’t see that from an airplane, it’s okay! Laughing
