We bought a set of 4, Lemmerz Wheels on CL - three with a date of 1/65 and a number 1555 + one with no markings.
My guess is the 1555 refers to a model - what does 1555, refer to? or any of the 4 number designations on 356 wheels mean?

… went to Buighaus in Tulsa this morning for a 28 pci carb rebuild kit (for our '55 bug) and told him 'bout the 1/65 356 wheels, we bought AND he showed me the 3/67 205/wide 5 @5.5 inch wide ones, he got from a customer - his were built by EMPI, BUT WERE ACTUALLY TO Porsche 356 SPECS - the 4 digit number was 5 digits, preceded by a zero and were for a Carrera.
… there's that model reference number again.

I have 5 of the 1555 wheels. That is a part number indicating offset I believe. The 1555 wheels have a deeper offset than the stock 1585 4 1/2" wheels. I`ve had several sets of these wheels over the years and all have been chrome, and dated after drumbrake production. I have them stripped and powdercoated silver.....for a great look on a 356.

…,thank you Bill, Actually, you sent me a message asking what the 4 digit number was, on my wheels and I responded, but received no further reply, from you. So, I asked around and in this thread, what that 4 digit number referred to... must say, I am astonished at how few replies are in this thread, meaning, to me, that few 356 enthusiasts, must not know - and I thank you for your reply.
The guy, I bought 'em from told me, they came on his 1960 bug and did not like them.
I had a similar set on my Zwitter
