Where are you measuring that? At the fuel pump? I just got done fighting that on my woodie project - I was measuring the temp at the fuel pump and just had the car idling for 20 minutes and when my temp hit 150 (and was still rising) fuel presure at the carb dropped to zero. Open up the tailgate and gave the pump a quick shot of starter fluid to chill it and pressure came up.

I have since remedied the problem and it does not get above 140 at the pump and its fine. (Had previously swapped pumps twice.)

Engine temp 160, fuel pump 98 degrees. Yesterday with the same temps the fuel pressure would go to zero once the engine warmed up. All I need is a warm day which won't happen this week to see if any head way has been made.

Take a look at where your fuel lines run - anything real close to something hot?

Still no joy. Took the car out for a run today, fuel pressure zero. when I first started it up it had 3 lbs till it warmed up and then started to drop. Came back home hooked up gas can to fuel pump still zero pressure. Three different pumps all do the same thing, is this normal? Bentley calls for 2.8 lbs, is that at start up or normal fuel pressure all the time.

just saw this thread... not sure if this was ever solved, but i remember reading somewhere that the plastic base can swell slightly restricting the rods motion, thereby not allowing it to move, equaling zero fuel pressure. easy fix is to drill the passage out a hair to allow for swelling of the rod/plastic and excess grease.

I wanted to share my experience with sanding the pump flange base to raise fuel pressure.

My symptom: intermittent hesitation at highway speeds under load. ’66 Bus, 1600 SP, stock fuel & ignition, generator. At first I troubleshot this as a fuel starvation problem as follows:

Replaced fuel filter - no change in symptom.
Measured fuel pressure = 2.5 PSI at idle, 2.2 PSI at 3800 RPM, no load.
I mistakenly thought this pressure was too low and continued troubleshooting:

Measured pump push rod = 107.65 mm
Measured rod height above flange extended = 10.8 mm
Measured rod height above flange retracted = 6.85 mm
Resultant rod travel = 3.95 mm
Measured flange base thickness (original) =12.7 mm
Measured flange base thickness (spare) = 12.8 mm
Sanded spare flange to 12.6 mm thickness, installed. This resulted in no change in pressure.
Sanded spare flange to 12.3 mm and still no change in pressure, but now a tapping noise was coming from the fuel pump.

Conclusion: Others have reported a rise in pressure after sanding the flange base, but in my case it did nothing but initiate a tapping noise after 0.5 mm was removed.

Continuing troubleshooting:
Replaced flange with original (un-sanded), and installed new Brosol fuel pump using two gaskets. Pressure now measured = 4.7 PSI idle, 4.6 PSI at 3800 RPM, no load.
Added two more gaskets for 4 total (2 upper, 2 lower). Pressure now measured = 4.4 PSI idle, 4.2 PSI at 3800 RPM, no load.

Hesitation at highway speed still there.

My hesitation problem ended up being a loosely mounted condenser. Tightened it and problem went away. Reinstalled original 2.5/2.2 PSI pump (25 year old Brosol with 74,000 miles), and still no hesitation at high speed/RPMs.

Don't you hate when that happens....That is when I bring my wife over and she looks over my shoulder and says "shouldn't that wire be connected to something?"
