I pulled a new harness from the engine forward in my 73' Ghia. Under the back seat I have (1) new large red wire, coming in from the right, and an existing large red wire with a small black wire exiting into the motor box. See photo.

Can someone tell me what these are?

Also, in the engine compartment, I have a large red/white wire with a small red. Can someone tell me what these are? Also, there are two sets of generator wires: red, brown, & green. I thought one set would have gone into the car and come out under the back seat where the new large red wire is. Does the Ghia have the voltage regulator in the engine compartment? Thank you in advance. I didn't have an existing harness to compare.

Thank you for that. Is the regulator located in the engine compartment, or under the rear seat like a beetle?

Thank you! Couldn’t figure out why the harness seemed too short. So the large red wire coming out under the rear seat: what is it for?

Just plug them together. It runs from the ignition switch to the starter
