Some teaser pics for original large Syncro rear deck emblem in-work. These larger ones are no longer available. These will be cast in aluminum instead of plastic, with high polished lettering and darkened shadow area as original. I hope I'm not going against forum policy showing off these emblems. I just want to share something new - not mine BTW.

I'm guessing mine is an original.
It was looking faded, so I did a bit of Alu-tape refurbishment.
Now it looks like it has Alu-tape on it.... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

My original emblem was flat with 2-sided tape. This sand casting it made the same way. I may drill 2 shallow holes that will accept screws, or just use tape like the factory did...
Here is a pic of the back
Here's some detail of the front. You can see that it's a sand cast, not a die-cast. Greg is the expert and can explain the different casting methods. I actually prefer how this looks vs the plastic OEM one. I'm going to darken the background a little & buff up the front.
Here's an NOS one for comparison...

Looks good tjet! I think that background needs to be darker for sure . As you said these were cast in resin bonded sand , and I agree they look better than the plastic one for sure , plus it won’t turn totally black like the plastic ones do when the aluminum colored paint wears off of them! As for pins , if people need pins I can pin them. Flat with the double sided tape seems to be the easiest though. _________________ '88Doka JX td

SWEETNESS!
Any plans to do 2WD hatch versions of "Volkswagen" and "Vanagon?" _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears

Sorry, meant the two emblems on the hatch (not the V-Dub logo).
But Yeah, not sure about copyright law regarding that type... _________________ ‘84 Westy, 2.1L with Digijet, 5.43 R+P, GT Gears

I’d be down to make the Vanagon logo, i will hunt for one.
Tjet- transporter logo?! Hell yes , right now I only have one that I 3D printed but my machine isn’t big enough to print it the full length 😂 So I have a midget one I made ! _________________ '88Doka JX td

I experimented with some acid to darken the 3-D area. It's a mild acid designed to darken aluminum. You can see some difference in the dark area of the "c". You apply it with a swap, then rinse with cool water for a min or so. Since it etches the metal, you do not want to get this on the polished areas. It may leave a permanent stain.
I need to do another application
