I finally found a NOS passenger side door handle for my 60 double cab. Thanks to Sander H for shipping it out so fast from Holland. I didn't want to use a repop as I had already put a NOS one on the drivers side a year ago. I got the package from my mailbox today and had it on my truck in ten minutes. The old one was scratched up, pitted and had a broken spring and would not stay closed.

Barn fresh!
I finally got the 1960 double-door panel driving again. New brakes, starter, throwout bearing, etc, etc. I hadn't diven it in 5 or 6 years. I'm probably going to end up selling it.

This was last week but replaced the axle boots on my '63 15-Window.
The passenger side was weird, the bottom of it was perfect but I found a split up by the seam:
You couldn't really see it unless it was pushed it apart like that.
No visible leaks but after any longer trip there would be some transmission fluid sprayed on that side, like the starter got misted somehow.
I could never figure out why but I guess that was the reason. _________________ How to Post Photos

Interesting. Do you dissolve/remove the dry guide stuff before painting?
I'd be worried about a layer of non adhesive material in the final paint. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

It's a charcoal-eque substance, and you can just wipe it off before you paint/prime. It reminds me of laser printer toner. _________________ -Thom

Kurt used something very similar on “Funkytruck” with good results. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Nothing to the likes of your guys' jobs but decided to go out with the old junky Wolfsburg West door panels and in with the new Clara panels on the Westy.
I'll clean and freshen the mechanisms. I ordered Wolfsburg West German door clips; here's hoping they are correct. Anyone have experience with their clips lately? |
