I'm pretty new to Volkswagens, in fact, I'm pretty new to cars in general...I bought this thinking I could learn how to work on cars is it's pretty simple but the car I got had no wires in it, so I had been putting in a new wiring harness for the past few days. I'm not too sure where to plug in the black and red wires coming from the electronic ignition. My guess is red to the positive of the ignition coil and the black to the negative but I want to make sure. I don't know too much about the type of ignition system this is. all I can tell is its vacuum.

If it is an electronic ignition (no points)the red wire from the distributor goes to the #15 terminal on the coil which is positive.
The black wire from the distributor goes to negative side of coil. _________________ '72 Beetle |

Welcome to The Samba
Do you have all your engine tin, hoses, body to engine seal all sorted out? How about an Orange Bentley shop manual?
