Hi,

I hold my hands up, I groan that I've got to post this but I've made a mistake removing the engine and not labelling every wire, engine back in I have 3 wires I cannot be sure 110%. I can't take a chance and fry the loom.

Its semi auto so if someone has a 1302 semi that would be great if you can help me figure where these connect.

These 3 wires come through the rear bulkhead behind the shroud, 1 brown, 1 black and one much shorter with no shielding on the terminal.

The brown I did label 'control valve' but I also have an open end on the control valve fuse that does not connect to anything so I'm doubting myself.

The black will only go as far as the coil, it won't reach the control valve but depending on where i place the fuses in the engine it might have reached that open end. I am pretty sure it goes to the coil as it has a new terminal on it, I would have done that and coil is accessible.

The shorter one might be the wrong side of the shroud, I think possibly is to the starter (there is a free terminal logic is there is absolutely nothing else nearby it will reach bar the starter solenoid.) but if I'm wrong I blitz the loom.
And then I'm still left with open end of the fuse.., unless the fuses went behind the fan housing and the shorter wire connected to that although its a very awkward placement.
Can anyone help, I feel a bit dumbass but ... Smile

Given the colors and one appearing to have the factory inline fuse, I would think the Black would go to the coil and would be for your reverse light power, and the brown goes to the Control Valve (that comes from the trans and is connected to the ground in the shifter).

Not sure on your year where the power for the Control valve goes, however the early ones were connected from the CV to the Coil directly.

Not certain about the shorter black one behind the shroud.

Thank you. Some relief I found an old pic of my engine, the black went to the fuse, brown control valve so the shorter one can only reach/goto starter solenoid.

I'm under it again tomorrow to connect flex plate to converter so will take one more look.

Sounds good. Should have noticed your tag line saying this was a '71. The power for the CV should just be a jumper from CV to coil.

Good luck!
