|
|
Hey guys,
So I want a good meaty setup with stock body work on my 74' standard that still fits within the fenders (preferably matches up with, but ill dial that in with spacers). Because I want real nice compound I realy dont have many options. I think I have settled on toyo proxes 1s in 195/65R15, but that leads to my next question.
Assuming I am running a 5.5" wheel, what is my minimum safe offset to still be within the fenders (so that I have room to push them out with spacers) on a stock beam?
Thanks in advance guys

As close as you can get to 4 3/8 - 4 1/2” back space on a 5.5” width rim. And that’s the most you usually find on 4x130 rims. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

I totally forgot to post an update it looks like 165/80R15 on stock wheels -> 195/65R15 on 5.5" rim's and a 35mm offset leaves me 1" in from edge of the fender both front and rear.

It will be closer to flush than an inch. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Honestly, i felt like it would, but if stock wheels are actually 34mm offset then that is what the math comes out to. Do you think i will actually get them poking outside of the fenders with a 35mm offset on 5.5" wheels? _________________ '74 - front disks/lots more work to do |

Depends on the tire width. The outer edge of the rim itself might be flush with the fender, but the tread width and sidewall bulge of the tire is usually wider than the rim. |

Buy a pair of good used tires cheap to try them out. I'm running used 185X60 & 205X70 on 5.5X15 2.0 liter wheels. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

This site is helpful to run a comparison of stock, or whatever you have, versus what you want to get.

I was using willtheyfit, but that is a much nicer layout of picture of the differences. Thank you for that resource. _________________ '74 - front disks/lots more work to do |
