FWIW, I emailed the Museum (and heard back from Susanne) asking if orders placed before the changeover would still be handled by the museum and she did confirm that they will fulfill all orders placed before the start of June. _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

Ordered Jan 24th through the old link and it just showed up yesterday. Paperwork is dated May 24th. Original engine too!!!
I'm assuming they misspelled "Heater outlet" on the M141 option. This came with the smog/air-rejection system too. Maybe that's what S707 is?
That's my old address too. I don't care if it's visible.. _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

Two of us in our club just bought cars that the PO ‘s family beleives were German models and imported. Is a birth certificate really the only way to verify this info or can we confirm this somewhere else using just the VIN?
One is a 1970 beetle and the other is a 71 squareback. Stickers we saw initially appeared in english and i think the owners manual was also in english... any thoughts? The bug does have low back seats, which i thought was odd b/c 70 should have those monster head rests.

It's been three weeks since the new birth certificate system started, and they suggested online it would take two weeks for you to receive one - has anyone received the new birth certificates? How are the different than the old ones? |

OK, in total it took 5 months and the first certificate I received was completely wrong! But, I got a corrected certificate and whoot, whoot, my 21 window is an authentic German built 67 Deluxe Samba.

I just waited 4 1/2 months for a birth certificate for my 1967 Deluxe 21 window bus and.... ugh, they made a major mistake and identified my bus as a kombi. My VIN, stamped in the engine compartment, starts with 257, which corresponds with a 1967 deluxe bus, but they identified it as a type 231, kombi.
I emailed Susanne Wiersch at the museum (see a few pages back in this thread), it will be interesting to see if I can get it resolved with the change in which department handles birth certificates. |

I went to order a birth certificate and they didn't allow US shipping addresses. I emailed them and two days later they added US shipping.
I ordered a birth certificate today 6/30/19, I will update everyone once we receive it. |

just got mine and the made date says May even the the date on the Thing says June(6) of 1973. Also it lists my color as Lemon Yellow and it is Orange. So how do i go about correcting that? |
I've heard that birth certificates are notoriously wrong for Things. Weren't they built in Mexico, that could be why. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

They opened this up at the beginning of June, and the only person here who has ordered one is ratherb-buggin? Whew - I guess everyone on this thread probably already has one from the museum, but I'm looking forward to hearing about the differences!

I'll be sure to post an update. I have one from the museum, so I can do a side by side comparison. They said two weeks, I figure with shipping maybe three weeks. |

This is what the new birth certificates look like now that Volkswagen Classic Parts took it over. The great thing is that the new service is super fast. It only took 20 days from the day we ordered it, to the day we received it. No more waiting 6 months! They do require more documentation though that you own the car and of vehicle vin plates.
I ordered this for my wife's 59 ragtop. We were suprised that it's an original black car.

I like that. Really digging the old school parts box design on the certificate. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Very interesting! If I'm getting this correct, the only difference in information between the old and new is:
* New has no information about original engine (to determine if the engine you have is original)
* New has "Delivered To" and "Delivered In" (what are these?)
Thank you for posting!

Can anyone think of what "Delivered To" and "Delivered In" in the new packet are, and how that is different than the "Country of Destination"?
Perhaps the "Delivered In" is a breakout of the city which was int he "Country of Destination," but I can't see what the "Delivered To" is - perhaps the distributor?

Hi
Id like to get a VW birth certificate for my husband's 1962 VW ragtop as a birthday present.
Just a quick question because I want to make sure I order it correctly,
Where it says model number, do I write Beetle or Beetle ragtop?
Also, when entering the shipping address, should I include my husband's name so that the certificate comes in his name? I'm worried it will be issued in my name since the billing address will be in my name.
I truly appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks. |

Yes. I would enter Ragtop Beetle in the model, although it looks like they will fill out the certificate with the actual model number. (111, 113, 117, etc.)
Yes, I would put his name in the request so that it comes in his name.
You will have to try to intercept the mail so he doesn't see it beforehand. _________________ How to Post Photos

I pretty much just read the posts on this site, hence my low post count. Thanks to Ratherb-buggin for posting the new link to the new site for the birth certs, it perked my interest to give it a try. So I ordered mine for my 70 Bay today. Will let everyone know how it goes. _________________ Rick
